Artists’ Stronghold

Location: Pasadena, California - Scope: 22,000 SF Addition and Renovation - Client: The Armory Center of the Arts

The renovation of the Armory Center for the Arts created a zero net energy/ LEED platinum children’s art education center and gallery for the namesake Nonprofit Organiation. While maintaining the historic characteristics of the National Guard Outpost on the exterior, playful contemporary architectural elements lighten up the interior and the two-story concrete block addition of new art studios. Designed as a sustainable project in collaboration with Donna Vaccarino.
