Literary Journey
Location: Westchester Library - Scope: 12,500 SF Community Library - Client: City of Los Angeles
The building's placement preserves and expands an existing municipal park with numerous mature trees, including a giant magnolia that reigns over the entrance. From the intimately-scaled foyer through the soaring 24' high primary circulation hall to a series of cozy reading nooks, the library evoke archetypes of reading spaces - from dignified study halls to under-the-cover reading memories of childhood. Artist Jill d'Angelica's decorative maple wall paneling captures the sense of storytelling and discovery that is the essence of any library space.
