Sculptural Sanctuary

Location: Beverly Hills, CA - Scope: 855 SF Residential Addition - Client: Paul and Dorrie Markovits

A unique collaboration with a graphic designer client produced this sculptural retreat inspired by the colors of the vegetation on the steep hillside slope. The main volume dissolves towards the sweeping view with a glass corner floating above a reflecting pond outside - creating a light-filled, serene space for study and repose, while a second, lower volume houses a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom for guests. Stepping stones across a second reflecting pond create a pronounced threshold between the outside world and the heart of the retreat.
